What does the BSOD say? I've been known to fix them on occassion in the past, but usually it'll require a reformat cos windows sucks, or possibly it's a HDD problem.

If its BSOD in alot of cases its corrupt ram, try by process of elimination removing one ramstick and starting it up, if that doesnt work take it out and put the other in. Thats the case on my desktop although one was completely corrupted and the other is 'ish'ly workable, i still get bsod on it but at keast u can see whats causing the problem.

I had a couple that were caused by conflicts with an HP printer driver.

0x0000000BE is ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, caused by a faulty driver/firmware you've installed recently. Unless it was 0x8E which is an HDD problem, bad sectors or the like.
