The solution to mic fade on Ventrillo is to open up Hardware and Sound within the Control Panel and:
1. Configure and test your mic;
2. Select your mic and under Properties and under Enhancements and disable Accoustic Echo Cancellation and Noise Suppression;
3. Open Ventrillo and tinker with Outbound and Inbound under amplifiers where you want to increase outbound and decrease inbound (but it may well be specific to the particular Mic you are using, so it will be a bit trial and error).

Indeed, just try turning both your outbound and inbound settings on vent down two or three notches. I know people have a problem with being unable to understand me if their inbound settings are too high. It's all about fiddling with things.
